Within the non-profit sector it’s rare to have experienced project managers on staff who can organise and deliver those essential technology projects which may happen only periodically - often these opportunities are given to the member of staff most interested or most proximate to the work.
As an experienced practitioner of agile project management, I believe in taking a project management approach to all the work I do and I have a long history delivering technology projects from the very small scale up to and including global implementations requiring full programme management.
Project management is a particular skill, requiring a good understanding of the fundamental governance frameworks, the ability to create resourcing and delivery plans, excellent communication and change management skills, and a flexible and resilient attitude to handle the inevitable shocks and setbacks.
